Ice Storm

We had an ice storm last night. It's not so bad, except the schools are not open today. (That's bad if you are a mom, like me.)

The only scary thing was in the middle of the night when the power went out. We have a UPS attached to the computer and when there is a power outage it beeps and beeps. Our power came back on again in the very early morning. The older parts of the city are not so lucky. When the wires are outside on poles instead of being underground, heavy ice and high winds can do a lot of damage.

But really, an ice storm can be pretty. Here are some photos from around my house.

i agree, they are beautiful pics, especially when the sun comes out and everything shines and twinkles (and melts!!!). we didn't get the ice storm, we just got more snow.

How awful the storm ! I don't like wind at all ! A few years ago we had an unusal very strong storm here in Belgium with a speed of 200km/h ! Two trees of our garden dropped on the street ! since then I am afraid. But you are right, the pictures are beautiful !
