Being the cynical blogger that I am, I had long ago given up on memes. But because I love Ewa's garden, I will do most of this meme. Like the chain letters that were their ancestors, however, the meme stops here. I do not perpetuate it, beyond saying this:
If you are reading this post and you feel inclined to write eight random things about yourself on your blog, consider yourself tagged by me.
My Eight Random Things:
- Jodi at bloomingwriter, who tagged Ewa, was recently featured on Blogger's Blogs of Note list, and I was green with envy. Luckily for gardeners, green is a good colour.
- Because November-to-March is a very quiet time when the garden is often buried under snow, I need a winter hobby. Last year I took the time to study and improve my photography. This year I have taken up knitting.
- Until a few months ago, I did all my blogging on a PC. I am now the proud owner of a beautiful iMac. This is like returning home after being away a long time. The very first computer I owned was an original MacPlus.
- In spite of my aversion to gambling and alcohol, my very favourite city to go to on vacation is Las Vegas. Ten years ago, if anyone had told me that would be the case, I would have smiled sweetly in their face and told them they were crazy.

- Maybe one of the reasons I like Las Vegas so much is because I am a huge fan of the television show CSI. We even bought a board game, with collectible figurines.

- Right about now, I am wishing this was a shorter meme, like maybe five random things instead of eight. But anyway, I think I have mentioned briefly before that I used to collect Art Glass. So therefore I never have a shortage of vases when I want an indoor display of flowers from my garden. (The only problem is, I worry about putting water in the vases in case they get ruined. So far I've been very careful, though, and that doesn't happen.)
- I'm a bit of an appliance snob, and I like to have the best we can afford. We recently replaced our 17-year-old vacuum cleaner with a Dyson, and our washer and dryer with a set of LG Tromm series. We did not get the kind with the steam (because I'm not in the habit of dancing home from work and rushing out to party in the same dress) but the next model down, which has a moveable control panel -- handy when your upstairs laundry demands stacking appliances.

- And finally...it has taken me all morning to write this meme, and I am glad to be finished now. I need to go and cuddle the cat for a while.

Great answers and photos! Your kitty looks like my boy Cosmo...www.cosmokitty.wordpress.com.
I like Atlantic City, once in a while. Guess it's a scaled down Vegas.
I enjoyed getting to know you better through your meme answers. I have this same task ahead of me and I don't really like doing them either. However, I do enjoy getting to know other garden bloggers better through them, so I will do it this time.
It's fun to read things about fellow bloggers that aren't necessarily about gardening.
You had a 17-year-old vaccuum? That's got to be an accomplishment in itself! I've found the new ones are built to be replaced every three years. Hope the Dyson lives up to its rep. Darling kitty and cool washer and dryer!
Dear Karen,
I am really happy that you made your meme. it was great fun to read and I know you better now :)
I do not participate in memes at all, but this one is something different, since we just know our gardens. I usually read only gardening blogs, cos I am not interested in typical personal blogs. But when I read about garden, slowly step by step, I start to know its gardener :) usually you would not write about vases, vaccuum cleaner and appliances, right? so, I am really glad you made it.
BTW there was some time since you made your last post and I was curious what is going on :) mac is a real beauty... I am usually afraid of it, cos there are some problems with Polish fonts compatibility.
kitty is cute and your pictures are also beautiful. thank you for sharing
greetings,
Hi Ewa, I have more than one blog, so I do daily entries on my personal blog.
The gardening blog usually goes "on hiatus" from November to March. This year I am waiting for the snow and will post some photos of my garden then. (Also, I was contacted by someone at a publisher who is sending me a gardening book to review. But I haven't got the book yet.)
So don't worry -- it is normal for this blog to have only one or two entries a month in winter. :)
I like to keep it a "pure" gardening blog, and not make entries about, say, my knitting projects or other things like that. Of course, the meme was something different, but it was fun to introduce myself this way.
I'm not a meme 'doer' either, but I liked reading this one about you. It was fun to get to know you just a little better :)
I'm curious to know if you played with the echinacea bud picture, or if that's the original colour of the photo. It's beautiful!
My daughter, who is a mad knitter, would salivate over that yarn. Another wonderful photo! What colours!!
We've had our Kirby vacuum cleaner for about 30 years. Amazing, isn't it?
Your kitty is adorable..and yet another fabulous photo! So sweet.
Kerri, I did not play with the colour of that photo, but I did crop the original to get in closer to the bud.
And for both you and Lost Roses, my old Kenmore canister vacuum might have lasted another 17 years, but I made a big mistake. After vacuuming up soil when the cat trashed my houseplants, I did not change the bag right away. The damp soil eventually started to decompose the paper bag, and even though the machinery was not damaged, the smell lingered. And lingered. And...well, you get the picture.
i have central vac but my oldest clogged it with something, so we decided to get a dyson, O.M.G. i would never have believed that thing could suck up ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING the way it does, we got the purple one, for pets and it is AWESOME!!!
bsts
HA! I had no idea there was a CSI board game with little CSI characters! How awesome. I love the show too. Thanks for the random things about you!
ok, some people don't like meme random self-description, but I really think it is great fun to read new things about people you like:) if you like somebody, you like to know that person better, right?
How fun to read these! I'm like you (were) with Vegas. No desire to go there, and if anyone told me that it would be my favorite city in 10 years, I would smile sweetly and tell them that they're crazy. *grin*
I just got back from Vegas. You have to stay at the Venetian. Trust me.
This was fun to read - I enjoyed learning more about you.
I liked seeing your wool collection - the seed stitch is easy. Cast on an odd number of stitches and then begin with a knit, then purl and continue to the end of the row, always ending on a knit.
Like you, I prefer longer fringes on my scarves.
